Set your preferences. A blank Preferences tab gives RPBuddy almost
nothing to work with. Five lines of backstory hooks and a chosen tone
make a huge difference.
Talk like a person, not a player. "I open the door" works fine,
but "I push the door open and look for anyone behind it" gives the
NPC more to react to. Body language and tone matter, not just keywords.
Let actions matter. When an NPC offers something, accept or
decline in-character. Both directions are valid play.
Save the Journal preferences for after a session. Tweaking
preferences mid-conversation can be jarring. Set them, play for a
while, then adjust on the next day-advance.
The world is opinionated. It will try to push you toward a story.
If you'd rather wander, just explore — the world will adapt within a
day or two.
Be generous with party members. Recruited NPCs get their own
voice in scenes. They make conversations richer. Bring people along
even if you don't strictly need them.
