Quests

Quests

Quests live in the Quests slot in the centre of the Command Deck — the scroll icon, or press 1. A dot appears on it when new quests are available. Click it to see available quests, accept new ones, and track your progress. On mobile, the Quests button sits in the top-right corner.

Available quests depend on who lives in your settlement, what enemies exist, and what relationships NPCs have.

Where quests come from

Every quest in your world comes from the Quests panel. NPCs don't hand out their own custom quests during conversation — if you ask one for work, they'll talk about it in character, but it won't create a tracked quest.

That's deliberate. Quests are assembled by the game from your world's real contents — actual NPCs, actual enemy templates, actual relationships — so every quest has steps that can genuinely be completed and paid out. A quest improvised mid-conversation couldn't promise that.

The practical version: to get new quests, give your world more to work with. More NPCs, more enemy templates, more relationships between people.

Quest types

Accepting quests

Open the Quests panel and switch to the Available tab. Each quest shows its type, name, reward, description, and danger level. Click Accept to take it on.

Tracking quests

Tracking quests

The same panel shows your Active and Done tabs. Expand an active quest to see each step, who gave it to you, and the current state. Steps complete as you fulfill them — defeat enemies, deliver items, talk to the right NPC.

Completing quests

Each quest has multiple steps. Some steps complete automatically (like deliveries paying out when you hand over the goods), while others require returning to the quest giver to report what you found. The reward is gold.

Quest-pinned NPCs

While a quest is active, the quest giver stays put — they won't wander off to other buildings. So you can always find them to turn it in.
