How the clock works, and every way to move it forward (or back).

A new world starts on Day 1, in the morning.
The day number changes at dawn, not at midnight. Staying up past midnight is still the same day until 3:00.
Time only passes while your world is open. Close it and everything waits for you.
The current day, time and weather are on the Command Deck (desktop) or in the status bar (mobile).
What moves time
Exploring the map. The clock runs while you're out on the map. A full day takes about a quarter of an hour of
real time.
Conversations. The clock pauses while you talk, but each reply moves time forward by roughly how long it would
take to say.
Walking. Time keeps running while you travel, so long journeys take part of the day.
Sleep and Passage of Time, below.
Pausing
Time pauses on its own while you're in a conversation, in the Atlas, in a battle or in Build mode, during the world
tour, and after five minutes without any input.
To stop it yourself, choose Live / Paused on the Command Deck (the pause button on mobile and in conversations).
Your choice is remembered for each world in this browser. While paused, conversations don't move time either.
Sleep
In the evening and at night, a moon button (Sleep until morning) appears next to the clock. Sleeping:
Choose Skip time on the Command Deck (the hourglass), or choose the day number, to open Passage of Time. Pick
any day and part of the day.
Skipping ahead:
For skips longer than three days, you can write what happened with each person and each settlement while you were
away. Characters remember what you write. Leave a field blank and they simply know that time has passed.
Any quests you're on end when you skip. Finish or abandon them first if you want to keep them.
Skipping doesn't run the overnight changes or bring new Story Moments. Those come with the next natural day change.
Everyone ages with the days, including you.
Scheduled trips jump to where they'd be by then, and the weather changes.
Going back to an earlier day permanently deletes everything that happened after it: memories, conversations, day
cards, notes, transactions and quests. You'll be asked to confirm with I understand, continue.
Weather
Weather changes as the parts of the day go by, and each biome has its own mix: clear, rain, fog, snow, sandstorms
and more. Characters notice it, and it's part of every scene.
