Common problems, what causes them, and what to do.
A character doesn't know my name. They haven't met you yet. Introduce yourself. After that conversation, they'll know you. To have someone know you from the start, write a Player Backstory on their profile. → First meetings
A character forgot something important. Characters recall a handful of memories each message, chosen by what's recent and what matches what you're saying. To make sure something always stays with them, open the Journal → Characters → them, and pin that memory. → Memory and the Journal
"Response timed out. Try again." A reply took too long, even after automatic retries. Send your message again.
Chat is paused. Repeated messages broke the content rules. Wait for the pause to end. → Content settings and safety
"You've reached today's AI limit." The free plan's daily AI actions are used up. They reset at midnight UTC. Building by hand, images (with credits) and exploring still work. → Plans and limits
Nothing happens when I click a building. In Build mode, a click selects or edits instead of walking. Choose Done to leave Build mode. To enter a building, you need to be close to it: click it to walk over first.
My NPC briefing didn't update after I changed the profile. Briefings are never rewritten automatically once they exist, so your edits are safe. Choose Rewrite from profile for a fresh one. → Area profiles and NPC briefings
Everyone the AI makes is human. Only Medieval Fantasy worlds start with every people turned on. Turn others on under Peoples on your world profile. Even in a mixed world most people are human, and you can always ask for a specific one ("an elf blacksmith"). → Area profiles and NPC briefings
A portrait doesn't match the character's appearance. Portraits are made from the Portrait Prompt only. Update the prompt and regenerate. → Portraits, portrait states and expressions
Out of credits. Buy a credit pack, or subscribe for a monthly allowance. → Billing and credits
My prompt was refused. It named a real person or an official title, or suggested a character who isn't an adult. Reword it. → Image safety
Image generation is paused. Several prompts in a row were refused. Wait for the pause to end.
"The server is busy." Nothing was charged. Try again in a moment.
Nothing ever attacks me.
My quest failed. Skipping ahead with Passage of Time ends active quests. → Quests
The map is slow, or my phone gets warm. Lower Graphics quality in Atlas → Settings. → Settings
Some text is in English when I play in another language. Content already written stays in its original language, and settlement templates and quick-option buildings are English. → Languages
"Session Moved". Your world is open in another window or device. Choose Reconnect Here to play here instead.
How do I get back to the Dashboard? On desktop, hover RPBuddy.ai at the top-left and choose ← Dashboard. On mobile, use your browser's back button. Your world saves as you play.
