Quests are reasons to go and talk to people, with a reward at the end. They come from each settlement's Bounty Board.
The Bounty Board
Every settlement has one. It shows up in Quests (the scroll) → Available
whenever you're inside that settlement. A dot on the Quests button means there are postings.
The board offers up to three jobs at a time, one of each type:
Monster Bounty: defeat a number of one enemy. Red markers appear just outside the settlement; walk up to one to
start the fight. Fights with that enemy anywhere also count. The reward grows with the enemy's danger level.
Investigation: go and speak with someone about something.
Delivery: pick something up from one person and bring it to another.
Choose Accept to take one on. Postings change each day, and after you accept a type, that type is gone from the
board for a little while.
Doing a quest
Steps complete by doing them: winning the fights, talking to the right person. There's no turning in.
The quest tracker at the top of the screen shows your current step, with a kill count for bounties.
Buildings you need to visit are marked on the map.
The people involved stay put until the quest is finished.
When the last step is done, the reward is paid automatically into your wallet.
Your quest log
Quests has three tabs:
Available: this settlement's board
Active: what you're doing now, with each step ticked off as you go
Done: finished and abandoned quests
You can Abandon an active quest at any time, with no penalty, and delete finished ones.
You can have up to five quests active at once. At five, the board stops offering more.
Good to know
Characters don't hand out quests in conversation. The Bounty Board is where they come from.
Skipping ahead with Passage of Time ends any active quests.
Defeating a bounty enemy gives you its loot and XP as usual, on top of the quest reward.
