6. Your character

The characters you meet react to who you are. A few fields decide how they see you. Every field is covered in Your player character.

Open your character sheet any time: choose your portrait on the Command Deck (or tap it in the mobile status bar).

The fields that matter most

Appearance. Your body: build, face, hair, anything distinctive. It's the one thing a stranger knows about you, so it's your first impression. Leave clothing out of it.

Default Outfit. What you normally wear. It's a separate field so you can change clothes without rewriting how you look. Characters always use your current outfit over any clothing mentioned elsewhere.

Personality & Backstory (labeled Description on your sheet once you've begun). Who you are and where you've come from. Only people who've met you see it, so a stranger can't know your history.

Gender. Fill it in and characters will use the right pronouns. Left blank, they guess from everything else.

Faction. If you belong to a group, everyone can see it, strangers included. Members of the same faction know you're one of them. See Factions.

Changing clothes

Under Outfits, choose + Add outfit to save other things you wear. Choose an outfit to put it on, and choose it again to go back to your default. Characters see whichever outfit is highlighted.

Outfits change what characters see you wearing. They don't change your portrait.

Your portrait

Your portrait is drawn only from the Portrait Prompt, with your world's art style added automatically. Editing your appearance or outfit doesn't change the picture. Update the prompt too, then choose Regenerate Portrait (costs image credits). The gallery button on the portrait lets you reuse any image you've made before, for free.
