How your character grows stronger.
Every character starts at level 1 with the same stats: 100 HP, 10 attack, 5 defense and 10 speed, with Strike and Brace. Your level and XP bar are on the Command Deck and your character sheet.
You earn XP by defeating enemies. Higher-level enemies give more, and enemies well below your level give less.
Fights with characters and quest rewards don't give XP.
Each level takes more XP than the last:
| Level | Total XP |
|---|---|
| 2 | 200 |
| 3 | 450 |
| 4 | 800 |
| 5 | 1,250 |
| 6 | 1,800 |
Each level you gain adds 10 max HP, 2 attack, 1 defense and 1 speed. Leveling up doesn't refill your HP, so heal or sleep afterwards.
Losing to an enemy costs a tenth of your XP, but never enough to drop you a level.
Enemies grow stronger as you out-level them, up to twice their original strength, so the road never becomes entirely safe. See Encounters.
