Getting from place to place, finding people, and how the map is laid out.
Click (or tap) anywhere on the map and your character walks there along the roads and paths. Click a building and you walk to its door. When you arrive, its card appears with Enter. Press Esc to stop walking.
Close to a building, press E to enter the nearest one.
The clock keeps running while you walk, so long journeys take part of the day. Out in the wilderness, enemies may find you on the way. See Encounters.
Some buildings have floors and rooms. Inside one, an up arrow sits at the right end of the row of portraits above the chat bar. Choose it to see the building's rooms, then choose a room to go there.
If you're in the middle of a conversation, the person you're talking to appears as a small portrait next to each of the other rooms. Choose their portrait instead of the room name and they'll come with you, so you can carry on the conversation there. See Buildings and rooms.
Choose Where is? (the magnifying glass: key 4 on desktop, or the icon column at the top-left on mobile) and type a name.
Choose a result to jump the map there. Each result also has Go there (walk to it) and Teleport (arrive instantly).
When you walk inside a settlement's boundary, it becomes your current settlement. Its name shows on the Command Deck, its Bounty Board appears in Quests, and conversations with your party outdoors use the settlement's art as a backdrop.
Your world is made of hexes, each with its own biome. Add more hexes in Build mode with the + buttons around the edge of your world. See The hex map.
Characters you invite into your party follow you wherever you go. See Party members.
