A tour of everything on screen while you're in a world, on desktop and on mobile.
RPBuddy uses the mobile layout on touch devices with a small screen. A narrow browser window on a computer keeps the desktop layout.
The bar along the bottom of the screen has three parts.
Left: you. Your portrait (choose it to open your character sheet in the Atlas), your name, level, and HP and XP bars. Once people travel with you, their portraits stack beside your name. Choose them to talk to your party.
Center: six slots. Each has a number key:
| Key | Icon | Slot | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | scroll | Quests | Bounty Board postings in this settlement, plus your active and finished quests |
| 2 | hourglass | Skip time | Passage of Time: jump ahead (or back) to another day and time |
| 3 | backpack | Inventory | Your pack: use healing items, equip weapons and armor |
| 4 | magnifying glass | Where is? | Find a character or place by name |
| 5 | toolbox | Build | Build mode: buildings, roads, rivers, settlements and more |
| 6 | gears | Settings | World settings: art, map look, encounters and story options |
The number keys don't work while you're typing, or while the Atlas, Passage of Time or Build mode is open.
Right: the world. The settlement you're in, the music playing (choose the track name to pick another; the music-note icon mutes it), and your money (choose it for your transaction history). While images generate, a Painting count appears here too. Then the day (choose it to skip time), the clock, the weather, a moon button (Sleep until morning) in the evening and at night, and Live / Paused.
In Build mode the right side swaps to Undo, Redo and Done.
| Icon | Opens |
|---|---|
| Open book | Journal: your notes, the story so far, the people you've met, and your story preferences |
| Compass | Atlas: every character, place, enemy, piece of lore and setting in your world |
| Question mark | Buddy: the in-app helper. Ask how anything in RPBuddy works |
| Toolbox | Build mode (hidden while you're in a conversation) |
There's no deck. Instead:
The deck steps aside. On desktop, a bar at the top-right keeps the music, the place, your money, your portrait (opens the Atlas), the day, the clock, the weather, Sleep and pause within reach. On mobile, a leave button (the door) and the Journal sit at the top-left.
