This is where your world comes alive: one building, and the people who live or work there.
Open Build mode
Look for the toolbox icon.
Desktop: the toolbox slot on the Command Deck (or press 5), or the toolbox in the icon column at the
top-right of the screen.
Mobile: the toolbox in the icon column at the top-left of the screen.
Time pauses while you build. The building tools appear in a bar along the bottom of the screen.
Place the building
Choose Building.
Click (or tap) where you want it.
The building opens for shaping. On desktop:
scroll to rotate
Shift+scroll to resize
Ctrl+scroll to cycle through footprint shapes
Ctrl+Shift+scroll to add or remove floors (its height)
On touch, drag the corners to resize, drag the ring to rotate, and use the on-screen buttons for the rest. You
can also pick a roof style.
Choose Done when it looks right.
The Location Wizard
As soon as you finish shaping, the Location Wizard opens. Its first step asks how you want to fill the
building:
Quick options — instant ready-made buildings for your genre (a tavern, a coffee shop, a mess hall…), complete
with people. They're assembled without AI, so they appear instantly.
A description — in the description box, write who lives or works here and what the place is like, then choose
Generate. The AI
drafts the building and its people from your description and what it knows about your world.
Manual — start from a blank form.
Place Empty — leave it as an empty building and fill it later.
Leave Generate characters at this location ticked to get people along with the building.
Tips for the description
A sentence or two is plenty. Say who runs the place and what it feels like:
A tavern run by an elderly couple. Cracks in the walls, but a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Who's there. The owner, family, staff, regulars. The AI builds the cast around them.
The feel. One or two details (worn, cozy, rowdy, upscale) shape the description, the people, and the interior
image prompt.
Names come from name lists. Characters are named from large pools of real names, not invented by the AI, so
they sound natural and don't repeat. Mention a background ("an elderly Japanese couple") and they'll get names
from that culture. The generator prefers these pool names even if you write your own, so if you have specific
names in mind, change them when the review comes back.
Review before you save
Whichever way you started, the wizard walks you through what it made. You can change anything:
Story — the building's name and description.
Cast — everyone who lives or works here. Open a character to edit them, or add and remove people.
Rooms — optional floors and rooms inside the building.
Details — building type, owner, map color, interior image prompt, music and map icon.
Images and cost
With Generate images ticked (the default), saving paints the interior and a portrait for each character. That
costs image credits. The Cost so far card shows the total, and big batches ask you to confirm first.
Untick Generate images and no image credits are spent. Your characters are fully playable without
portraits, and you can paint the ones that matter later.
Choose Save (Place Building for a quick option) to finish. Images paint in the background while you carry on. The Command Deck shows
Painting with a count, and a card pops up as each image lands.
